Working with AI-Generated Images

AI-generated images make your presentations visual and professional without stock photos or design work. This tutorial shows you how to create, customize, and perfect images for any slide.

Time: 3 minutes
Level: Intermediate
Prerequisites: You've created presentations and understand basic editing

Understanding Image Styles

Image style determines the aesthetic of all generated images in your presentation.

Illustration: Modern vector style with clean lines and flat colors. Professional and versatile—works for business, tech, and education. This is the default and most popular choice.

Photorealistic: Looks like professional photography. Highly detailed and cinematic. Use for realistic scenarios, products, or people.

Abstract: Geometric shapes and gradients. Minimal and sophisticated. Perfect for concepts, data, or modern brands.

3D: Rendered 3D style similar to Pixar. Playful and engaging. Great for storytelling, products, or younger audiences.

Line Art: Clean, minimal black lines on white. Simple and elegant. Ideal for technical, educational, or minimalist presentations.

Result: Choose your style during presentation creation—all images will match.

Generating Images for Slides

Outline generates images automatically, but you can regenerate for different results.

To regenerate an image:

  1. Click any image on your slide
  2. The image panel opens on the right
  3. Click Generate New Image
  4. AI creates a new image matching your slide content
  5. The image updates in seconds

What AI considers:

  • Your slide title and content
  • The selected image style
  • Your presentation theme colors
  • Context from surrounding slides

Tip: If you don't like the first result, click Generate New again. Each generation is unique.

Changing Image Styles Mid-Project

Switch styles to see different aesthetics for the same content.

  1. Click Presentation Settings in the top toolbar
  2. Find Image Style in the settings panel
  3. Select a new style (Illustration, Photo, Abstract, 3D, or Line Art)
  4. Click Regenerate All Images to update your slides

Result: Every AI-generated image updates to the new style while keeping the same subject matter.

Using Custom Images

You can upload your own photos or graphics anytime.

To replace an AI image with your own:

  1. Click the image you want to replace
  2. In the image panel, click Upload Custom Image
  3. Choose a file from your computer (JPG, PNG, or GIF)
  4. The image appears on your slide

When to use custom images:

  • Brand logos or product photos
  • Team photos or headshots
  • Screenshots or diagrams
  • Specific visuals AI can't generate

Tip: Mix AI-generated and custom images freely. Use AI for concepts and illustrations, custom photos for specific items.

Editing Image Prompts

For more control, edit the prompt AI uses to generate images.

  1. Click any image
  2. In the image panel, find Image Prompt
  3. Edit the text to describe what you want
  4. Click Generate to create an image from your prompt

Example prompts:

  • "Modern office with diverse team collaborating, illustration style, professional"
  • "Abstract representation of data flowing through networks, blue and purple gradient"
  • "Product launch concept with rocket ship, 3D rendered, dynamic"

Result: Custom prompts let you create exactly the image you envision.

Image Layout and Positioning

Control how images appear on your slides.

Layout options:

  • Background: Image fills the entire slide behind content
  • Top: Image spans the top third of the slide
  • Left/Right: Image takes one side, content on the other
  • Inline: Image sits within content blocks

To change layout:

  1. Select the slide in the thumbnail sidebar
  2. Click Layout in the slide settings
  3. Choose your preferred image placement

Tip: Background layouts work best for atmospheric images. Left/right layouts are great for product photos with descriptive text.

What You've Learned

  • Choosing and understanding image styles
  • Generating and regenerating images
  • Uploading custom images
  • Editing prompts for precise control
  • Positioning images with layouts

Next Steps

Pro tip: Generate images early in your process. It's easier to work with visual slides than text-only placeholders—images help you see the final presentation as you edit.
